September 25, 2008

Gary Barbera was recognized for his efforts and contribution to the over $100,000 reward that lead to the arrest of the third suspect in Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski’s murder.

Philadelphia, PA (PRnine – September 25, 2008) – On September 9, 2008, in the Mayor’s Reception Room of City Hall, Gary Barbera was recognized for his efforts and contribution to the over $100,000 reward that lead to the arrest of the third suspect in Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski’s murder.

Gary Barbera and members of his two dealerships, Gary Barbera #1 Chryslerland and Gary Barbera Chevyland, helped to raise money both for the reward for information and for the family of Liczbinski.

Ten thousand dollars was contributed directly by Gary Barbera, who employs Matthew Liczbinski, the sergeant’s son. He also sponsored Gary Barbera’s War at the Shore featuring a bout between NBC 10 sports anchor Vai Sikahema and baseball’s “bad boy” Jose Canseco. Sikahema, the local favorite and winner of the fight, presented his $5000 purse to the family of Liczbinski.

Gary Barbera was first introduced to Sikahema, on his first day in Philadelphia, by Jim McMahon at the Philadelphia International Airport and their friendship has grown over the years. “Vai is the guy!” Barbera quipped prior to the fight.

The entire Gary Barbera family extend their condolences and pledge continued support for the Liczbinski family.
